The Stephensons

On 30th December 2008 I travelled up the M1 and A1 to visit Northumberland again. I had a two and a half day stay there, spending one day at the Archives at Woodhorn and the remainder travelling around places where  the Stephensons lived. I stayed at a friendly B&B called Wyndgrove House in North Sunderland.

I already knew that my gggrandmother was buried in St Aiden's Churchyard.  On this trip I discovered that her father and two of here sisters were too. I was trying to discover more about my gggrandmother's maternal grandparents. Many 18th century Baptism Registers only give the father's name of the child. Unfortunately, there were two men with the same name in the Bamburgh area at this time.

Below you'll see quite a few photos of this visit. I have given very little information in the captions with regard to people and dates. From experience I have found that some people with connections to the Stephenson family get in touch and I give them plenty of information. I don't hear from them again though!  Some people try to take other researcher's "hard won" information and simply add it to their own Tree without reciprocating research information. Of course I'd be happy to discuss research if you want to get in touch in a genuine way.
