The Stephensons

In February 2010, I took some photos of the town's two multi-storey car parks. I contacted Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council who gave me the following information:

The Rope Walk car park was opened to the general public in November 2004, slightly ahead of the completion of the Shopping Mall which opened in September 2005. There are 525 spaces in this car park, which include 4 parent & toddler spaces and a further 33 spaces allocated to our customers who are disabled or are members of the “shopmobility” scheme. The total cost of the car park was approximately £5.3 million and was built on 6 floors.

Harefield Road multi storey car park has 603 spaces, of which 13 are set aside for disabled users. The original cost was £1,028,339, being  constructed in 1985 on four floors based on a “British Lift slab” design. This car park is likely to last in it's present state until around 2020/25.

Both these car parks have gained the “Park Mark award” which is administered by the British Parking Association and vetted by the Police. There is a standard that is set in terms of management practices and safety ( i.e patrolling, CCTV, information signage etc) which each car park must conform with.
